homemade signal booster?i was trying to figure out how to boast my signal coverage in my area, and a got an idea:

to use a UHF amplifier, to pick up the towers signal and rebroadcast it. of coarse since things like WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular 2G/3G/4G networks use two way radio, the signal can go back to the reviving end of the UHF amp, and get broadcasting to hit whatever tower. my phone should better recognize the tower, as if i just magically made a tower 2 feet away. however this might also amplify stay noise.

if this idea doesn't work, why not? i think i am going to need at least a 20dB increase in power, but as of now i need to do more research.
but if i can buy a product that does a similar thing for less than $40, i would.

How will you tap into your phones circuit to extract the Rf signal to drive the amplifier.

The cheapest option is to add an external antenna.Reply6Sep 10, 2012. 6:57 PM-max- (author) says: \i plan on buying one, ir if i can, build one. i am sure the gain is going to have to be very high, it might be cheaper to buy a few cheap ones and hook the output of one to the input of the next one to get exponential gain, maybe 3? the last one is going to be a higher wattage to emit the signal. this i think should work.

the phones emit rf signal into the air, so i make an antenna to pick it up and re amplify. the amplified signal goes to a emitting antenna, both i might cheap out on and just use a 5 inch long coiled up wire. (helical design)

i tried to place a wire to the 1/2 inch long antenna, only to find out whatever i did i decreased my signal strength. (from 98dbm to 110dbm, from 1-2-ish bat to nothing..) i was able to get better WiFi signal however, with a 1.5 inch steel wire. :)

besides, it would be weird to carry a phone with a antenna sticking out the top of it,(especially on a galaxy s3) that is SO 90'sReply18Sep 11, 2012. 2:18 PMrickharris says: I have a feeling this isn't going to work - BUT your making the best effort by buying the complicated parts e.g. the UHF amp.

Let us know how you get on.Reply6Sep 11, 2012. 5:09 PM-max- (author) says: i also have my doubts, i have no way of knowing if i built a working amplifier, and if i did, how much gain would i need, how do certain dbm gain translate to the actual gain? (3 times, 10 times, 100 times 200 times increase in gain?)

then my last problem would be, if i did get all of that to work, and everything is the right rating to work properly, then what if all i end up amplifying is just as much noise as the signal? it is probably my biggest concern. Cell Phone Signal Boosters And Repeaters: Homemade Cell Phone ...

Disclaimer: We suggest seeking the advice of a professional before attempting to make your own homemade cell phone signal booster.

If you have been looking for a solution to a weak cell phone signal within your home but don't want to fork out the money for an expensive cell phone signal booster then you should try making a homemade cellular phone signal booster. Home made cell phone repeaters are becoming quite popular as an alternative to the $100-$300 that you can end up shelling out for a retail cell booster from a company such as Wi-Ex zBoost.

If you are considering attempting to make your own cell booster we highly recommend that you first consult a professional within the industry because we cannot assure you that it is 100% fool proof and safe to retransmit a cellular signal throughout your home or office.

Once you have consulted with a professional on this issue you can go ahead an begin building your own wireless mobile cell phone antenna booster. The idea behind it is to use something that has the capability of grabbing the cell signal that you currently get (although weak) and amplify it with a range extender.

There are several different types of homemade cell phone signal repeaters that can be made quite easily. One of these is a simple coffee can model where you take one standard medal coffee can and one tin can and solder them together. After doing this you get some small antenna parts including a copper wire and attach them to the cans. Finally you can a pigtail connector that connects to the antenna parts on one end and plugs into your cell phone on the other end. This is a relatively easy model to make but the down side would be that you have to have the huge coffee can antenna plugged into your cell phone in order to be any boosting/repeating power.

Another type of homemade cell phone signal booster is one where you simply stick a large piece of a coat hanger into the hole where your antenna belongs. Usually this only requires pulling the cover off of your external antenna and inserting part of a coat hanger. This option will not work if you have a completely internal antenna. With this option we highly recommend that you consider all other avenues and options before doing it. This is because it could cause harmful cellular signals near your ear or could cause some type of damage to your phone and could even possibly void your cell phone warranty. We do not know whether these negative consequences are possible or not but they certainly come to mind when modifying any electronic device.

Besides getting a homemade cell phone amplifier you can always just get some sort of branded product. Options for this include either small external antennas that hook directly into compatible phones or a wireless antenna system that you setup in your home to sort of create their own small expanded cellular network.

If you are looking for a cell phone amplifier, repeater, booster, or antenna booster we highly recommend that you go with a commercial product because it will be safer and should work better. If however you don't want or have the money you can always try a homemade version. The only catch is that it might not work all the well or it might cause damage to your cell phone.

Another great website to take a look at for cell phone information is the Three G Phone blog.

Where adamfaiz? | 1960 Olympic village

This is an important issue: a company that owns mobile networks wants to install repeaters antennas (Base transceiver station) on the rooftops of the Olympic village. In Exchange for money. Requests are sent to administrators of condo and approved or rejected by the Assembly. The point is: based on what make the decision? We are in possession of sufficient information to assess the risks to health of the inhabitants exposed to radio frequencies? Official positions of Governments and medical institutions (who) minimize the dangers to health, but did not exclude them for a better specified by "particularly" sensitive population. It's probably a premature conclusion to trust on the implications of prolonged exposure to electromagnetic fields generated by the recent massive use of wireless electronic devices. And meanwhile the decision is: how much risk I run to get more or less severely because of the fields generated by antennas and mobile telephones? This question follows another: what level of democracy there is a choice made independently by a group of people, which affects the lives of others, but did not compete that year to the decision, if, for example, a condo allows the roof to a telephone company to install an antenna that will invest in emissions the adjacent condo that did not participate in the decision? The issue looks at that time years about damage from active and passive smoking ... And then it's worth talking about, without prejudice, to exercise their right to determine together the quality of our lives and our children ...

I tedeschi temono il Wi-Fi | Tariffe | Digital.it

achtung.png

From Germany comes a very curious but at the same time debatable. The German Government had raised the alarm about possible harmful effects that wireless hot spots could cause to people's health.
The Environment Minister even ruled that using the Wi-Fi there are serious health risks and that this technology would be to use as little as possible.
Very serious statement especially in the absence of evidence to the extent that the German Government officially would tend to maintain a soft line with the concept of prevention "since I don't know for sure if it hurts or not, let's use it as little as possible".

The British long ago had criticised the Wi-Fi from the health point of view but their line was definitely softer, so much so that they themselves deem the German initiative as "the worst condemnation that you could ever give."
The Germans still warn of serious danger of ElectroSmog judging alarming exponential growth of equipment emitting electromagnetic fields, be they televisions, be they cellphones.
Even arrive to advise you to use a phone booth rather than the cell phone, or a wired connection rather than a wireless connection.

Up to here the harsh judgment of the German Government that in my view exaggerated slightly in shades and especially in comparing how dangerous a television antenna booster for cell phones.
The precautionary approach is sacrosanct, but it would be more fair to pick on those who really caused the real electromagnetic pollution (mega radio, Tv repeaters repeaters, antennas outlawed ...) rather than with producing ridiculous fields.

Home access point has a reach of ridicule and even at 50 cm from the point of origin of pollution produced is hardly measurable.
In short, according to many statements of the Minister of the environment may cause a witch-hunt absolutely uncalled for and are likely to involve the industrial development of high tech.

Remember that Wi-Fi is a wireless technology in full growth used to cover areas where cable broadband does not arrive.
We will see in the next few months anyway when will be published the official test of English research on the possible dangers of wireless.

Beware of low-frequency radiation Centumcellae News

Sep 19th, 2012 | Category: from Italy, featured

telefoniniAre to be taken with the Norwegian study that showed no health risk to people living in the vicinity of telecommunication antennas or for the use of mobile phones. He is convinced the Isde Lazio. Despite the findings of the study, commissioned by the Ministry of public health, transport and communications, according to which "low-frequency radiation, such as those to which it is exposed is through the use of cell phones, cordless phones, wireless networks and transmission stations, do not constitute, on the basis of data that today provides the science, a risk to vulnerable populations, "according to Dr. John Ghirga is appropriate to wait for the results of two other fundamental studies: Cosmos and the Moby-kids; Meanwhile, urges to "use your telephone in speakerphone or headset, do not install antennas less than 300 metres from kindergartens or primary schools, restrict the use of mobile phones by children and to prevent the excessive use of the phone itself. We want to caution – concluded Dr. Ghirga – we must remember that we caution, however, does not know it. Just looking for wireless networks and you live in a building that you realize that in a few moments will appear there. WIFI devices do not have the timer and then remain lit throughout the night and we are all exposed, although we do not need the network. Almost no one extinguishes them at night. Sin ".

Sar installed another phone Repeater?!? Misilmeri Blog ...

Dear editors, I inform you that at Misilmeri, according to reliable sources, is about to be a new mobile antenna, even they say that you have done already the concrete base.
The area where it will be installed in the coast of mulberry, a little before the housing market side, right near the town, Prince Coast District.
I would like to ask the Municipality of Misilmeri if granted all permissions, for these gentlemen to install yet another antenna, which will only increase the number of cancer deaths to Misilmeri.
Remember that should be placed in 500 metres from the town centre.
But it is possible that no one ever watches on anything?
It lacked only the umpteenth mobile antenna, now we are complete.
Anyone interested to monitor the electromagnetic pollution that has undergone this maledettissimo country?
Instead of monitoring radiation levels emitted from the existing repeaters and to protect the health of citizens, what do you do?
You let others come to install other repeaters, so who cares, the dead are no longer news.
I inform you that was done in these hours collecting signatures to try to block another abomination at the expense of our health.
Personally, I am one of the petitioners.
I hope that all citizens with a bit of common sense do likewise, but i hope the existing repeaters in the town are removed with an order of Mr. Mayor.
Repeaters must stay 500 yards from the town centre and must remain within certain limits.
ENOUGH WITH THE ANTENNAS FOR CELL PHONES, WE'RE ALL DYING.

What Is an Antenna Booster for Cell Phones?

  1. Cell phones have become nearly universal. However, they do not always get the strongest signal. So-called antenna boosters claim to strengthen the signal for a cell phone. However there is significant debate about whether antenna boosters for cell phones work. There seems to be no conclusive evidence that cell phone antenna boosters make a significant improvement in signal strength.

    Description

    • Most cell phone antenna boosters look like paper-thin pieces of plastic with the configuration stamped or printed onto them. They are designed to be attached to the cell phone near the battery. The principle is that the circuitry imprinted on the booster is enhanced by the charge of the battery, which, in turn, helps the phone receive a better signal.

    Tests on Analog Phones

    • Analog phones are nearly as extinct as dinosaurs; however, some people have hung onto them. Some tests with antenna boosters on analog phones reported increased signal strength. In addition, some analog users reported decreased static, which can be a problem with older cell phones.

    Tests on Digital Phones

    • Results for tests of antenna boosters on digital phones was mixed. One set of tests reported modest but definite improvement in signal strength. Other tests reported no improvement at all. Still other testers reported that antenna boosters actually degraded the quality of the performance of digital cell phones.

    Accept No Substitutes?

    • For the tests which reported increased signal strength with cell phone antenna boosters, the tester concluded that a particular brand, the Cell Phone Antenna Booster, was effective in increasing signal strength. On the other hand, the tester declared so-called knockoffs, which were were less expensive, to be no more than scams.

    Considerations

    • Cell phones work by transmitting and receiving radio signals. This means that cell phones work best when there is little or no interference, such as concrete walls. A cell phone booster can only enhance a signal. Cell phone antenna boosters or even actual cell phone antennas often have little effect where radio signals are prevented from reaching the cell phone.
